Teen abortion accounts for 19% of all procedures of this nature nationwide. A whopping 43% of all women in the United States will have had one by the time they reach the age of 45. However, the age of women is continuing to decrease, as younger women seek to terminate pregnancies. Statistics are revealing that the average age of those receiving abortions is dropping from nineteen to seventeen. Teen abortion facts also reveal that though the teen pregnancy rate has declined in the United States over the last ten years, the percentages have actually increased. Current statistics are reporting that over 50% performed annually are on women under the age of twenty-five with the ages of eighteen and nineteen accounting for the highest number performed.



There is much controversy surrounding the issue and parental consent issue that has been debated in political arenas for the last decade. The argument for teen abortion and parental notification has tossed a myriad of issues around, with each side supporting personal views with teen abortion facts, statistics, and stories. While the debate will probably not be settled completely anytime soon, there are states that have taken action and placed into laws, the right for parents to know about the surgical procedure being performed on their daughters. There are currently twenty-one states that require parental permission for a teen abortion and eighteen states that do not. There are also fourteen states that require a parental notification before performance of an abortion on a minor. The notification law requires that parents be notified, but permission of a parent is not necessary to go ahead with the procedure.



This procedure is often viewed as a method to solve a crisis or large problem. It is important to understand all options and be able to make a confident decision based on facts and personal feelings. Perhaps God is at the center of the hot topic and debate of teen abortion after all. Pro-Life, Pro-Choice, Pro-Consent; each has battle arguments and are equipped with exceptions, rules, guidelines, and laws to support their claims. But, when the event is over and a young teen stands on the other side of a line crossed, it is then that she realizes that her biggest problems is now standing between her and her God. God is the creator of all things; of every life. For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him: and he is before all things, and by him all things consist. (Colossians 1:16-17) And it is He that has ordained life as sacred. For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them. A further study of the Bible will explain God's intent and will for mankind, showing us that He is invested in life and cares for every life created under his sovereignty. Abortion disrupts God's plans, and proves that we, the human race, do not trust in his will or omnipotent wisdom.
