Allergy Medicine

Allergy relief medicine comes in a variety of brands and specifications for seasonal allergies and daily allergies that plague many people. The need for allergy medication has steadily risen over the past 25 years because many people are not only dealing with the seasonal allergies associated with fall and spring, but also permanent problems such as dust and mold. Many patients who struggle with allergies also need prescriptions since many times allergens can cause the onset of an asthma attack or lower respiratory problems. The upsurge in medication associated with these types of diseases has caused many companies to offer their branded products on the shelves of the corner pharmacy.

Since asthma can have sudden, serious symptoms causing difficulty breath in anyone suffering from asthma, the most effective allergy relief medicine for this disease are usually obtained only through prescriptions from a doctor. That's why asthma relief medicine has not received the same wide approval for mass sales as have allergy medications. However, since the symptomologies of allergies can fit such a wide range and be so inclusive of a large segment of the population, the FDA has approved many forms of products to be marketed over-the-counter (OTC). This has greatly helped the consumer since OTC drugs generally are cheaper and of course are more readily available. Because these types of illnesses can come and go with the weather or activity, many drugs are not needed on a permanent basis, but just during the times when the allergen is most troublesome. Much of the more common medicine approved by the FDA to be sold in mass amounts at local stores mandate low dosages and carry low risks for side effects.

Many times a severe asthma onset can send a patient to the emergency room where approved prescription drugs are administered quickly. Asthma relief medicine usually is used to treat a more serious manifestation of allergies or breathing difficulties that need to be monitored by doctors and medical specialists. The side effects and the suggested applications for them are much more potent because of the serious nature of lung congestion and breathing difficulties. Any patient who has asthma difficulties should be monitored by medical professionals and in that respect be monitored by their doctor for asthma complications. Dosages of these products need to be monitored carefully since symptoms may change from day to day.

Although asthma can be very severe and receives more critical awareness from doctors and hospitals than does typical allergies, allergy relief medicine is an important part of treatment for symptoms of many types of sensitivities. The growing variety of allergies since the mid-50's is astounding and many specialists attribute the presence of new allergies to the development of chemical products such as the petroleum and pesticide products during the 50's. Many allergy patients who use these types of drugs also must use asthma relief medicine, not only to deal with common allergens associated with dust, mold, and seasonal changes, but also with chemical sensitivities that plague a growing number of the population. According to statistics, over 10% of the population in America has been diagnosed with multiple chemical sensitivities with another unknown amount of people who suffer with varying reactions to chemicals. Drugs can help in some cases, but the hyper reaction of the body to everyday chemicals such as cleaning products, carpet, perfumes and a vast array of other products, is not adequate to quell many allergy reactions.

The people who suffer from multiple chemical sensitivities or environmental illness also develop severe asthma and need asthma relief medicine in order to stop an attack. Unfortunately, however, many of those who suffer with chemical reactions also react to these prescriptions because of the synthetic ingredients. Most people, however, who deal with allergies and asthma have not been diagnosed with the hyper sensitivity of MCS patients and can manage their health problems with typical allergy relief medicine. Asthma relief medicine is best prescribed by a doctor or health professional who understands the seriousness of breathing difficulties and the critical nature of asthma.

We cannot rely on our own common sense to keep healthy. God is the creator and owner of our bodies. He knows what we need, both physically and spiritually. He tells us: "Be not wise in thine own eyes: fear the Lord, and depart from evil. It shall be health to thy navel, and marrow to thy bones." (Proverbs 3:7-8) If you suffer from one of these diseases, live your life according to the principles in God's Word. They bring health to our bodies as well as to our souls. This healthy type of living may also help manage problems that these diseases cause and lessen the need to take more drugs. It has been a giant step, however, for typical allergy sufferers to be able to purchase products over the counter when an onset of symptoms appear. Since so many people need typical allergy relief medicine at one time or other during the year, the FDA has approved moderate dosages of medication that used to be available only through prescriptions. It is now easy to drop by a favorite drug store or pharmacy and pick up the product needed for that time of year. If, however, a sufferer constantly uses these products, it is usually wise to consult a doctor for assistance.
